FAQs
After removing your cup, rinse it with water and unscented soap. Make sure that the tiny holes in the side of the cup are clean as well. When it is dry, place it in a breathable, dry container such as the cloth bag included with BelaBud.
How do I remove my cup? After washing your hands with soap, use your thumb and finger to locate the stem of the cup and let that guide you up to the base of the cup. Grip the cup and pinch it to break the suction from the side of the vaginal canal. If you do not notice a lease of suction you can slide your finger up in the cup and push the side of the cup in more to move it away from the wall. At this point you can pull the cup down. IMPORTANT: do not pull the stem of the cup, as this can actually increase suction and make it harder to remove. Make sure to pull on the cup instead, there are grips on the cup to remind you where to grab the cup.
How do I clean my cup? Before using your cup for the first time, boil it for 5-10 minutes in a pot of water.
After your cycle ends, dry your menstrual cup completely before storing. Make sure that the tiny holes on the sides of the cup are clear. Store in a breathable, dry container such as the cloth bag included with BelaBud.
Between cycles, boil your cup for 5-10 minutes to prepare for the next cycle.
When should I change my cup? When we say you can wear the cup for 12 hours, we mean that you should rinse the cup at least every 12 hours. You may need to rinse the cup earlier depending on how heavy your flow is. Over time you will learn what your body needs and how many hours it takes to fill the cup.
When should I replace my cup?Our medical-grade silicone can last up to 10 years. Since the cup is being used inside your body, the lifespan of the cup differs per person depending on your body along with care and cleaning of the cup.
Your BelaBud cup can last for several years with proper care and cleaning. However, if you notice any of following please replace your cup:
- Heavy staining (light to medium staining is to be expected and does not require replacing yet)
- Tears or cracks in the rim, stem or body of the cup
- Flaking or residue on the cup
- Any types of tears or cracks in the rim or the stem of the cup
- Leaking that you can not noticed before
- Foul odor
After washing your hands with soap, pinch the cup into a U-fold or and Punchdown fold. Insert the cup into your vagina until the entire cup is inside and the stem at the bottom of the cup does not stick out. Release the cup and it will open on its own. Make sure that the cup is fully opened by running your finger around the sides of the cup, if there are any tents then it is not fully opened and can leak. In this case, you can twist the cup a bit and the movement can help open the cup, squatting down can help move it into place as well.
Can I have sex with the cup in?No, as the cup sits in the vaginal canal, vaginal sex can lodge the cup further up and make it hard to remove.
